Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a press conference on Tuesday, September 1, that roads and communication networks in the affected area had been disrupted. He also warned that there remains a possibility of further disasters occurring in the region.
Guo said authorities are making every effort to search for and rescue people reported missing, including foreign nationals. He added that China is communicating with foreign embassies and consulates to help identify missing foreign citizens and coordinate follow-up measures.
Rescue teams are also working to restore access to affected areas and provide emergency assistance to those in need as authorities continue to assess the situation and respond to the aftermath of the disaster.
