Reports say the disaster followed a magnitude 4.4 earthquake in Tibet, which reportedly blocked a waterway and triggered devastating flooding in the affected areas.
Between 400 and 900 people are currently reported missing, including security personnel and workers. Rescue teams are also searching for more than 300 tourists who are feared to have been caught in the disaster.

The Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts of Nepal are among the worst affected areas, with floods destroying buildings, roads and electricity infrastructure.
The Nepalese government has deployed rescue teams and emergency workers to search for missing people and assist those affected. However, poor weather conditions and strong winds are hampering rescue operations.
