Two Muslim women journalists have alleged that they were detained and assaulted by Delhi Police officers at the Saket Police Station after attending an event involving Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The journalists, Shaheen Khan and Nafisa Khan, said officers questioned them about their religion and alleged that the treatment became more severe after they identified themselves as Muslims.

The journalists also alleged that they were threatened and later released in a condition that left one of them needing assistance to walk. However, Delhi Police has denied the allegations, saying the journalists were detained after allegedly obstructing a route designated for the movement of senior officials.

Police said the incident was not connected to their religion or to questions they attempted to ask the Chief Minister.
