US Vice President JD Vance on Thursday declined to say when American motorists could expect petrol prices to return to $3 per gallon, saying he would not make a promise about when prices would fall.
Vance said the US government’s priority was to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, as renewed fighting between the United States and Iran continues to affect global oil markets.
The renewed conflict has pushed international oil prices higher, with the impact now being felt by American consumers at petrol stations across the country.
Vance also argued that the situation could have been worse without decisions taken by the White House, while declining to predict when the conflict would end or when motorists could expect significant relief at the pump.
