Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the company responsible for distributing CNG in Delhi, announced that the revised price came into effect from 6:00 am. In Delhi, the price increased from ₹83.09 to ₹86.98 per kilogram.
IGL said the increase was linked to higher prices of imported liquefied natural gas, or LNG, which forms an important part of the gas supply used for CNG production. The company attributed the rise in LNG prices partly to pressures in international energy markets caused by tensions in the Middle East.
The increase also affected other areas of the Delhi-NCR region, although prices vary by location. In Gurugram, for example, the revised CNG price reached ₹92.01 per kilogram, while different revised rates were introduced in Noida and Ghaziabad.
The price increase is expected to affect transport costs for people and businesses that rely on CNG-powered vehicles, including taxis, autorickshaws and other forms of public transport.
Transport operators in Delhi have called for fares to be reviewed following the increase in fuel costs.
IGL said the ₹3.89 increase was necessary to manage the impact of higher gas procurement costs while maintaining reliable CNG supplies to consumers.
The company also clarified that ₹83.09 was the previous price, not the new rate. The revised Delhi CNG price is ₹86.98 per kilogram.
